Exam

The exam for the course took place on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 14 - 16 h in Hörsaal 026 in Building 101.

Here is the PDF of the exam.

Here is a sketch of the solutions (preliminary).

30 students were registered for the written exam. Of these 28 participated, all of which passed. 14 more BSc students will take oral exams on Fridays, February 21 and Thursday, March 27 (in room 051-02-28 = office of Prof. Bast = where the lights and the bench are).

Update Wed 19-Feb-13 10:30 : we have corrected your exams now. You find your grade in the Campus Online system.

Note: since we felt that the exam was a bit harder than last year, we shifted our usual points -> grades scale (see below) by 5 points, that is, we effectively "lifted" each grade to the next better grade (e.g. 2.0 -> 1.7). Also note that if just one or two points were missing to get to the next better grade, we took a second and sometimes third look at the exam to see if these points could be found somewhere.

The exam inspection (Klausureinsicht) took place on Thursday, February 20 from 14:00 - 15:00 in room 051-02-028 (office Prof. Bast). Five students came. The grade improved in three cases (in each case one step = to the next better grade).

A maximum of 100 points could be reached. The minimum number of points needed to pass the exam was 45. The assignment of points to marks and the distribution of marks over the participants was as follows.

90.0 - 100 : 1.0 ... 1 x
85.0 - 89.5 : 1.3 ... 4 x
80.0 - 84.5 : 1.7 ... 2 x
75.0 - 79.5 : 2.0 ... 2 x
70.0 - 74.5 : 2.3 ... 4 x
65.0 - 69.5 : 2.7 ... 3 x
60.0 - 64.5 : 3.0 ... 6 x
55.0 - 59.5 : 3.3 ... 4 x
50.0 - 54.5 : 3.7 ... 1 x
45.0 - 49.5 : 4.0 ... 1 x

The grades of the 14 oral exams were as follows.

1.0 ... 3 x
1.3 ... 1 x
1.7 ... 1 x
2.0 ... 2 x
2.3 ... 2 x
2.7 ... 3 x
3.3 ... 1 x
3.7 ... 1 x
