Exam Information Retrieval WS 17/18

Written Exam

The written exam for the course takes place on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 14:00 - 16:30 h in the rooms 082-00-006 (Kinohörsaal) and 101-00-036.

Please be there 15 minutes earlier (13:45) and come to the room that is assigned to your last name according to the following list:

082-00-006: A - K
101-00-036: L - Z

General information:

• There will be six tasks, of which you can select five tasks of your choice. Each task is worth 20 points. If you do all six tasks, we will only count the best five, that is, you can reach a maximum number of 100 points.
• You need 50 points to pass the exam. You have 150 minutes of time overall. If you do five tasks, this is 30 minutes per task on average.
• You are allowed to use any amount of paper, books, etc. You are not allowed to use any computing devices or mobile phones, in particular nothing with which you can communicate with others or connect to the Internet or parallel universes.
• You may write down your solutions in either English or German.
• Please write your solutions on the hand-out, below the description of the tasks! You can also use the back side of the pages. Please write your name and Matrikelnummer on the top of the cover sheet. If you need, we will also provide extra sheets of paper.
• Please bring:
  1. your student ID card and place it at your seating position in such a way that we can look at it without disturbing you.
  2. pencils in at least 2 different colors (black or blue and another color, but not red).

We will start on time. It is *not allowed* to leave the room before the official end.

Oral Exams

The oral exams (exclusively for the B.Sc. computer science students, everybody else must take the written exam) will take place on the following days (February 22 + 23 + 26), 30 minutes each, in room 051-02-28 (office Prof. Bast). After you have registered for the exam, you should be able to see the slot assigned to you in HISinOne. Currently, 27 students are registered for the oral exam.
