#acl All:read = Welcome to the Wiki of the course "Information Retrieval" in the winter term 2021/2022 = {{{ #!html

This course was cancelled on short notice, please read on

}}} This course was cancelled on short notice because [[http://ad.informatik.uni-freiburg.de/staff/bast|Prof. Dr. Hannah Bast]] was elected as member of the directorate of the faculty last Thursday. This job is a lot of work and comes with a reduction of the teaching load. We are really sorry for the short notice. Here are two things we can offer as a replacement: 1. Exams for this lecture take place every semester anyway (for all those who couldn't take or failed the exam in previous semesters). The complete materials for the course are online, here is the latest version: https://ad-wiki.informatik.uni-freiburg.de/teaching/InformationRetrievalWS1920 . So if you want, you can study the materials (and do the exercises) yourself. We only recommend this for students who are good with self-organization. If there is enough interest, we can also offer weekly QA sessions. We have set up a forum for questions: [the link will be posted here later today]. 2. We offer many exciting projects and theses. There are no particular deadlines, you can start anytime. The procedure is described here: https://ad-wiki.informatik.uni-freiburg.de/teaching/BachelorAndMasterProjectsAndTheses . The list of topics is not up to date. There are always topics available. And since our course was cancelled this winter semester, we will be ready to take on more students than usual.
