This course was cancelled on short notice because Prof. Dr. Hannah Bast was elected as member of the directorate of the faculty last Thursday. This job is a lot of work and comes with a reduction of the teaching load. Prof. Bast therefore cannot conduct the course as originally planned.

We are really sorry for the short notice. Here are some alternatives. If you are interested, please read carefully.

1. Exams for this lecture take place every semester anyway (for all those who couldn't take or failed the exam in previous semesters). The complete materials for the course are online, here is the latest version: https://ad-wiki.informatik.uni-freiburg.de/teaching/InformationRetrievalWS1920 . So if you want, you can study the materials (and do the exercises) yourself. We only recommend this for students who are good with self-organization. If there is enough interest, we can also offer weekly QA sessions.

4. We offer many exciting projects and theses. There are no particular deadlines, you can start anytime. And since our course was cancelled this winter semester, we will be ready to take on more students than usual.
